Work Package 2 (WP2) provides the research foundation of the EI-YOUTH project and supports the development of the EI-YOUTH Methodology and Training Programme. The objective of this work package is to generate evidence-based knowledge that reflects the realities, needs and opportunities faced by young people across participating countries.
The research process combines three complementary components: Desk Research, Best Practices Collection and Field Research. Through desk research, partners analyse national contexts related to ecological intelligence, sustainable citizenship, digital participation and youth engagement. The collection of best practices identifies successful initiatives and transferable approaches that can inspire innovative youth work methodologies. Field research, involving young people, youth workers and stakeholders, provides direct insights into eco-social challenges, participation barriers and the competences needed to foster ecological intelligence.
The findings from these activities are integrated into a consolidated analysis and recommendations report, forming the basis for the development of the EI-YOUTH Methodology Handbook. Particular attention is given to ecological awareness, environmental empathy, critical and systems thinking, active citizenship and collaborative mapping approaches.
By combining research, practical experience and stakeholder perspectives, WP2 ensures that the future EI-YOUTH methodology is evidence-based, relevant, inclusive and adaptable to different European contexts, while empowering young people to become active contributors to more sustainable communities.
WP2 provides the research foundation for the entire EI-YOUTH project, ensuring that all future activities are based on real evidence and identified needs. Through desk research, best practice analysis and field research, partners gather valuable insights from young people, youth workers and stakeholders across Europe. The findings contribute directly to the development of the EI-YOUTH Methodology Handbook and Training Programme. By connecting research, innovation and practical experience, WP2 ensures that the project delivers relevant, impactful and sustainable results
